I have taken the title for the this show from the “Black Room” at the Alchemy of Art Gallery. I have been inspired lately by dark back grounds and dramatic use of color and light. This space will be wonderful to show my new work in.
In the past I would let the subject choose the media. Now I am pushing myself to develop my concept and composition for a painting before choosing what to paint. My new works show this change in my perception. It is an experiment for me and is part of me choosing to paint fearlessly. All the works are oil paintings and made with the best practices meant to last generations. The subject matter is varied: from still lifes to portraits and landscapes. I feel joyful in this next step I am taking in how I perceive and portray the world and my art.
Group show
This group show is entitled “Emergence”. It will feature paintings and sculptures by Vivian Tanga and myself. All of the art is representational and rooted in classical realism. It showcases our journey as emerging artists finding our path after long years of perfecting our craft.
Opening reception is Friday, July 9 from 6-8pm with light refreshments.
The Forge was once a blacksmith shop and site for community dances. It is now a fine art gallery and antique shop in a beautiful setting.
Schuler School June Show
